A practical Mortal Shell II progress route

This is a navigation-first route, not a claim that every player must defeat bosses in one exact order. Game8’s walkthrough lists the following named areas in sequence: Disciple’s Pass, Fainweald, Glutted Mire, Sanguine Caverns, Prisoner’s Domain, Outskirts of Mammon, Sester’s Refuge, Conqueror’s Temple, Deserted Slums, Withered Shoals, Silent Steps, Faded Citadel, and Unfound Path.1

Use that sequence as a map-reading aid. If an encounter is blocking you, return to a Beacon, explore a side path, and come back after banking the resources or upgrades you found.

Opening: establish your first checkpoint

After the prologue, Marrow Keep functions as the main base in Game8’s Beacon listing. The same listing identifies Crumbling Tunnel (Widow’s Overlook) as one of the first activated Beacons, while the walkthrough begins its route with Disciple’s Pass and Fainweald.21

A sensible opening loop is:

  1. Finish the prologue and orient yourself at Marrow Keep.
  2. Activate the early Beacon when you reach it.
  3. Work through Disciple’s Pass and Fainweald before treating later named areas as your next route markers.
  4. Use the Beacon whenever you need to reset, fast-travel, or make a clean attempt at the next section.

How to use the route after Fainweald

Rather than promising a difficulty curve that has not been independently measured, use the published sequence as a checklist of destinations:

Route markerWhat to do
Glutted Mire / Sanguine CavernsSearch the accessible paths, then return to your last Beacon before pushing deeper.
Prisoner’s Domain / Outskirts of MammonTreat these names as the next navigation markers in the published walkthrough sequence.
Sester’s Refuge through Withered ShoalsContinue to activate Beacons and use their recovery/fast-travel function between attempts.
Silent Steps through Unfound PathFollow the later-route markers only when your current path is exhausted or a new opening appears.

This approach avoids a false “required boss order” while still giving a useful path through the locations currently documented by a public guide.

Beacon and upgrade reminder

Game8 describes Beacons as fast-travel points that restore the Harbinger’s Health and Resolve. Cleansing one also awards Ovas. Its walkthrough further says that cleansing the first Beacon unlocks the Muradean Actuator, used for weapon upgrades.21

Before committing to an unfamiliar stretch, activate the nearest Beacon first. That gives you a reliable place to recover and a reference point for the route.
