Mortal Shell II frequently asked questions: release date, price, platforms, multiplayer, co-op, difficulty, length and more.

Mortal Shell II FAQ

When does Mortal Shell II release?

August 20, 2026 on PC (Steam). See Release Date.

How much does it cost?

$49.99 for the standard edition. See Platforms & Price.

Is Mortal Shell II multiplayer or co-op?

Mortal Shell II is a single-player game. There is no co-op or multiplayer announced — the original Mortal Shell was also strictly single-player.

Is there a PS5 version?

Not confirmed yet. The Steam listing is Windows PC at launch; we track console announcements on the Platforms & Price page.

Do I need to play Mortal Shell (2020) first?

No — the sequel is standalone. Returning Shells and lore build on the original, but the story, world and systems are designed for newcomers.

How hard is it compared to Elden Ring / Dark Souls?

It keeps the methodical, punish-your-mistakes combat of the original Mortal Shell, but the no-stamina combat and posture system give aggressive players more freedom. Expect a challenge — but a fair one.

How long is the game?

Playtime is not officially confirmed. Between exploration, side regions and eight Shells to find, reviewers and testers describe a substantially larger world than the original (which took roughly 8-15 hours for a playthrough).

Does it support ultrawide / unlocked FPS?

Not officially detailed yet. We’ll benchmark PC features on our System Requirements page after launch.

Will my open beta progress carry over?

The developer has not confirmed save transfer from the open beta. Play the beta as a taste, not a head start.
